Visit of the delegation of EU Ambassadors to Pavlodar region

September 19 this year a visit of a delegation of Ambassadors and trade advisers of the European Union countries and member companies of the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce to the Pavlodar region took place. The organizer is the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan.

The delegation included President of the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan Denis Van den Weij, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Kazakhstan Kestutis Jankauskas, Ambassador of Germany to the Republic of Kazakhstan Monika Iversen, Ambassador of Latvia to the Republic of Kazakhstan Irina Mangule, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan Pavol Sepelak, Ambassador of Estonia to the Republic of Kazakhstan Toomas Tiers , representatives of the embassies of Romania, Sweden, as well as members of the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce: Alugal and MLC Trading.

As part of the visit, the delegation visited the plants of Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC and Kazakhstan Electrolysis Plant JSC, which are members of the Eurasian Group (ERG), and also held a meeting with the leadership of the Akimat of Pavlodar region.

An industrial tour took place at the Pavlodar aluminum smelter, during which delegates were introduced to the main production shops and unique technologies for the alumina production process, combining Bayer and sintering methods.

General Director of Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC Vladimir Krasnoyarsky told representatives of the European Union about the modernization of plant equipment that complies with the best world practices, and also shared the main directions of the environmental and social programs being undertaken.

During a visit to the Kazakhstan aluminum smelter, European delegates were impressed by the level of the plant's annual production capacity: 1,4 million tons of alumina and 250 thousand tons of the highest quality aluminum. Representatives of the diplomatic corps of the European Union countries noted possible areas of cooperation in terms of supplies of final products (aluminum ingots) to the leading countries of the European Union, as well as the possibility of attracting new technologies to ERG from European countries.

In the afternoon, the delegation led by the Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Jankauskas held a meeting with the Deputy Akim of the Pavlodar region A. Kurmanova, during which issues of implementing possible investment projects of the EU countries in the Pavlodar region were discussed, as well as the possibility of further development direct trade and economic relations. During the meeting, significant interest was noted on the part of the European Union countries in deepening cooperation in the fields of agriculture, environmental protection and waste management, transport and logistics, metallurgy and petrochemicals.

The leadership of the Akimat of the Pavlodar region noted that the Pavlodar region is a large industrial center of the republic. Favorable conditions have been created for foreign investors, including the provision of all types of communications in the territory of the free economic zone. Separately, industries important for a comprehensive partnership were also discussed - the mining of rare earth metals and the production of renewable energy sources.

The parties agreed to promote priority investment projects in the Pavlodar region on the platform of the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce.

It is worth noting that the European Union is the leading trading partner and largest investor in the economy of Kazakhstan.
