EU Ambassadors and European Trade Chamber Representatives Meet Kazakhstan’s Minister of Health

On 7 December, the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan hosted a meeting between ambassadors of EU member states accredited in Kazakhstan and representatives of European trade chambers, with the Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Azhar Giniyat, as part of the quarterly "Business Platform" meetings with the leadership of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Minister Azhar Giniyat presented the Ministry of Health's key national programmes, such as "Healthy Nation" and "Modernisation of Rural Healthcare," which envisage further developing the country's medical infrastructure. As part of the construction of multidisciplinary hospitals and clinics in various regions, the Minister invited European investors to consider a public-private partnership mechanism.

Noting the importance of ensuring quality service for the population of Kazakhstan, the parties agreed to work closely with leading European institutions to raise the qualifications of the country's doctors and medical staff.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to set up a working subgroup involving ambassadors and representatives of EU pharmaceutical companies and the leadership of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan to discuss a wide range of issues, including technology transfer, the construction of hospitals and clinics, and the study of best medical practices.

The BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce and SK-Pharmacia also agreed to hold a round table for Chamber members in February 2023 to explain the rules for the centralised procurement of medicines and to inform potential investors of support measures for boosting Kazakh pharmaceutical production.
