Deputy Akim of Mangystau Region Meets the Honorary Consul of Belgium and BeNeLux Chamber Leadership

On 17 June 2025, a meeting took place between the First Deputy Akim of Mangystau Region, Mr Erbol Kurentaiuly Izbergenov, the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium in Kazakhstan, Mr Murtaza Arifov, and the leadership of the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan, represented by its President, Mr Denis Van den Weghe.

Three priority areas of cooperation were considered at the meeting:

1. A comprehensive solution to the region's water supply issues;
2. The region's energy security;
3. Implementation of healthcare projects.

The regional akimat, including the heads of relevant departments, expressed interest in and support for implementing the initiatives presented.

In his remarks, First Deputy Akim Mr Izbergenov warmly welcomed the delegation, commented on the areas outlined, and proposed establishing a working group to further discuss the projects: construction of a hospital, a gas turbine power plant, and a desalination plant.

The Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium in Kazakhstan, Mr Arifov, who is also the founder of ARTEX Holding, reported that during a recent business trip to Europe he held talks with a number of leading international companies interested in taking part in the above projects, and confirmed his readiness to begin practical consultations with the Kazakh side.

The President of the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan, Mr Denis Van den Weghe, spoke highly of the region's investment potential and stressed the importance of systemic support from local government bodies for the successful implementation of joint initiatives.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in developing a sustainable, long-term partnership. It was agreed to begin preparing a roadmap for each of the areas discussed.
