Astana hosted the 13th session of the "Kazakhstan–EU" dialogue platform, chaired by Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov. The event was attended by heads of central government agencies, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps and business community.

The session addressed in detail issues relating to improving the country's tax and customs systems, developing the pharmaceutical industry, geological exploration and agriculture, licensing, lending and business support, reducing the burden of export-import operations, and a number of other topics.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister noted that the European Union is currently Kazakhstan's largest trade and investment partner. Total European investment has exceeded $175 billion. In particular, EU countries invested $5.2 billion in the Kazakh economy over six months.

"The EU accounts for around 30% of Kazakhstan's foreign trade. Over ten months, our trade turnover exceeded $34 billion. These figures reflect our consistent course towards expanding trade and economic cooperation," said Alikhan Smailov.

He added that more than 3,000 European companies are now successfully operating across various sectors of Kazakhstan's economy, including major multinational corporations such as Shell, Eni, Air Liquide, Alstom and Claas.

"This year has been highly productive for developing investment cooperation. Our joint portfolio continues to grow with new large-scale projects. Notable examples include the implementation of Svevind's green hydrogen production project, the agreement signed with Total for the construction of a 1 GW wind farm, Knauf's plans to open a fourth plasterboard plant, and the launch of large-unit vehicle assembly by Scania," said the Head of Government.

According to him, the trend of expanding European companies' presence in Kazakhstan is a direct confirmation of the country's growing investment appeal.

It was noted that creating favourable business conditions and improving the investment climate remain among the Government's priority tasks.

"We are working to create the most favourable conditions for attracting quality, long-term investment. To this end, the regulatory framework and investment support instruments are being continuously improved in line with the best global standards," Alikhan Smailov stressed.

The Prime Minister recalled that Kazakhstan has adopted the Investment Policy Concept through 2026, incorporating ESG standards. To ensure quality infrastructure for projects, a National Infrastructure Plan through 2029 is being developed. A service-oriented administration model will be introduced as part of the new Tax Code.

"A National Digital Investment Platform is being developed for investors' convenience in accessing government services and quality project support," said Alikhan Smailov.

Overall, he said, the Government of Kazakhstan will continue its consistent state policy aimed at creating a favourable investment climate.
