Diplomatic ties
Since diplomatic relations were established, Kazakhstan’s First President Nursultan Nazarbayev made nine visits to Belgium — in 1993, 2000, 2002, 2006, twice in 2010, and again in 2014, 2016 and 2018. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited Belgium in 2021 and in June 2026.
Trade
Trade turnover reached $582.4 million in 2025, up from $456 million in 2024 (+27.6%). Kazakh exports: non-ferrous metals, wool, textiles, base metals, chemical products. Imports from Belgium: machinery, equipment, electrical goods, mineral products, optical instruments, textiles and food products.
Investment
Direct investment over 2005–2025 exceeded $14.8 billion: $1.045 billion in 2025, $1.206 billion in 2024 and $1.006 billion in 2023. Kazakh-Belgian trade and economic cooperation has been developing since 1991.
