BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce Holds Internal Committee Meeting on Renewable Energy
On November 12, 2024, the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce convened a dynamic Internal Committee meeting on Renewable Energy, emphasizing expert discussions and key presentations on Kazakhstan’s energy transition. Held in a hybrid format, the meeting engaged members of the Benelux Chamber – leaders from the energy sector, as well as stakeholders from the Atameken Chamber of Entrepreneurs and ECOJER to explore pathways for sustainable energy solutions and ESG advancements.
The meeting spotlighted a presentation by Alexander Gassilov, Head of Energy Strategy and Climate at ERG, who shared insights into ERG’s decarbonization strategies of Kazakhstan. Mr Gassilov highlighted the challenges of transitioning from coal-based power to renewable energy, outlining actionable strategies for reducing emissions while addressing economic and social considerations .
Ivan Novikov from Cranmore Partners provided an analysis on the bankability of renewable energy projects, focusing on updated opportunities and challenges for attracting international investments in 2024.
Andreas Renker, CEO of Green Energy 3000, presented case studies on the development of wind and solar parks in Kazakhstan, showcasing 2024 updates on innovative financing mechanisms and tailored operations management for renewable energy projects .
In addition to the above experts, the session featured contributions from:
- Sayan Kurmanbayev, General Director of AMF Group.
- Kuanysh Baltabayev, General Director of the ECOJER Association.
- Executive representatives of Forum Group Astana.
- Zhakyp Khairushev, Managing Director of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan.
The discussions, moderated by Dinara Shurshenova, General Secretary of the Benelux Chamber, highlighted the importance of cooperation among stakeholders to advance renewable energy projects, address ESG compliance, and mitigate climate change. Updated initiatives included forming partnerships to integrate ESG principles into renewable energy strategies and fostering an enabling environment for sustainable development.
